Some hides mean more than leather alone. They carry the memory of the hunt, the place, the effort, and the experience that led to it. At Wilkinson’s, we believe those materials deserve more than storage or waste. They deserve to become something well made, useful, and worthy of the story behind them.
We take on hunted hide projects on a case-by-case basis, focusing on the kinds of goods we know best and can stand behind with confidence. That may mean a custom bag, wallet, belt, small leather goods, or even a pair of custom Fenoglio boots. When possible, we can also use the remaining material for matching accessories so more of the hide can be carried forward into the final project.

Custom Fenoglio Boots From Your Hide
For customers wanting something especially personal, we can also use hunted hides for custom Fenoglio boots. This allows the material to become part of something built to be worn for years and made with the same attention to detail we value in our own shop.
In some cases, the best use of a hide may be a pair of boots first, followed by smaller accessories made from the remaining material. In other cases, the hide may be better suited for leather goods instead. It all depends on the material and what it will realistically allow.
How the Process Works
Bring It In or Ship It to Us: Before anything else, we need to see the hide in person. The hide must either be brought into the store or shipped to us so we can inspect it firsthand.
We Inspect the Hide: We evaluate the hide’s condition, tanning, size, thickness, texture, and usable yield to determine what it is best suited for.
We Discuss What’s Possible: Once we’ve inspected the hide, we can talk through the types of pieces that make the most sense and how to best use the material.
We Build the Right Project: From there, we move forward with a project that fits both the hide and our wheelhouse, with the goal of creating something lasting and well considered.
What to Expect
Projects using hunted hides are handled case by case. No two hides are exactly the same, and not every hide is suited for every type of product. Some may be ideal for boots and smaller accessories. Others may allow for larger leather goods. The hide itself ultimately determines what is possible.
Timelines are also determined case by case. Once we inspect the hide and understand the scope of the project, we can give you a better idea of what to expect.
