Troy West grew up in Texas, in a family of four brothers, calf roping and team roping.  Upon graduating from high school, in 1977, he and his brother went to Amarillo, TX, to learn to build saddles.  They returned home and opened a saddle shop next to the house they grew up in.  They began building their own saddle trees in the late 90’s.

He and his wife, Kim, now live in Azle, TX, which is northwest of Fort Worth, where he continues building his own saddle trees and saddles, in a shop next to his home.

Troy’s belief is that, if a saddle is beautiful, but not functional, it is of little value.  It must first fit the horse and be comfortable to the rider. If you can then blend the function with beauty, you have the best of both worlds, creating something to be treasured.
